There are various kinds of reality TV shows in our country but most of them have forgotten the actuality of what makes reality TV shows, a non-fiction reality. That is until Shark Tank India appeared, on the screens of the Indian masses with the intention of creating, portraying something authentic.
What is Shark Tank about?
Shark Tank, in simpler words, a reality show which promotes business ideas and focuses on business investment. It involves a panel of entrepreneurs who invest in businesses that individuals pitch and educate the viewers about the same. Besides the innovative ideas and accessibility to the awareness about business, the show’s authenticity and originality is what has attracted the audiences over the couple of years. The first ever show related to the said concept was made in Japan and from then, various adaptations have been made in several countries, be it in British or America. It has connected with the viewers of good old television and now, it has come to India as well. Among various reality shows that have forgotten the meaning of realness, Shark Tank feels like a breath of fresh air, that too a knowledgeable fresh air. Okay! That was a little lame but I had to try.
How does it bridge the gap between entertainment and business?
Most middle-class families have someone that has no clue about business but, wouldn’t it be easy if the basics of business are accessible to all? Well, many individuals dream about setting up start-ups, small businesses and most of the established entrepreneurs have this story about coming from a small city and how they made it big with just an idea, don’t they? So, a reality show on exploring businesses and educating about the same doesn’t sound so bad. For so long, we have been induced by the drama of reality television that they may as well have lost the credibility they used to hold. The notion about entertainment being restricted to drama is something we have been noticing for a while now and, to actually get hooked to a show you need a secret ingredient, i.e. authenticity. Shark Tank India with a unique concept and these seven genuine entrepreneurs don’t hold back from using that ingredient.
1. Ashneer Grover – Co-Founder of BharatPe
2. Anupam Mittal – CEO of Shadi.com
3. Aman Gupta – Co-Founder of Boat
4. Namita Thapar – Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals
5. Vineeta Singh – CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics
6. Ghazal Alagh- Co- Founder of MamaEarth7. Peyush Bansal- CEO of Lenskart
All of the entrepreneurs mentioned above bring a genuine and authentic energy with the intention of educating the whole of Indian masses about the basics of business and tech world. The show aims to make Gen Z, millennials, Gen X, aware about innovation and ideas in the form of entertainment. The real structure and genuine efforts of the show make the viewers realize that they are not different from the ones on screen. The said entrepreneurs explain the basics with an ease and even break the fourth wall to educate us on the terms, such as B2B (Business to Business marketing) and B2C (Business to Consumer marketing). The kind of effort makes it easier to connect with the audiences and somehow offers them some hope. We, as viewers, feel acknowledged and learn things while sitting at our homes.
The show, as we mentioned before, is a breath of fresh air, something that connects all the generations and educates us about business ideas, entrepreneurship, tech industry without making it seem unreachable to the individuals who dream. The simplicity of the show lets us understand the basic terms and chuckle a little too. The authenticity actually inspires those who aspire to be like one of the sharks and those who don’t, well they get to learn a few things and watch something original that talks about all of us, and connects all of us!
