Grandparents always had the best stories, didn’t they? Even if they were really simple stories, or repetitive ones, they knew how to set the ambience, be evocative with their words and actions and have our attention throughout.
So we thought, why not gather with our community to have a little chat on how enchanting these stories were and what we can learn from them.
Favourite memories and keepers of stories
From watching TV shows, to recalling delicious dishes and fun games they played with us, we all had a lot of stories to share about the fond memories with them that are imprinted in our minds.
Grandparents are also keepers of stories from generations. There is some magic in the way they narrate these stories to us. A secret ingredient we all wonder about. They brought history alive and we got to know about our ancestors, about mythology, about lessons of life from their life long learnings.
What kept us so hooked?
The element of surprise, the intrigue, the tone and the pace of their words to begin with kept us wide eyed and in awe. The fantasy, the possibility of literally anything happening filled us with amazement too, as our community says. Some hilarious moments too made the stories stand out!
Storytelling is an integral part of a creator’s journey
We’re all creators in some way or the other. Writing stories, changing the narrative of life as we know it, building businesses from scratch, managing a team, creating all forms of art, giving the world the gift of books, so on and so forth, every act of creation has a story. We asked our community what their blogging story was.
How their stories kept us in touch with our roots
All the stories that grandparents told us had moral values attached to them which were instilled in us right from the beginning. As Don says, these stories were very relevant then and even now. They are timeless. They exposed us to culture, history, times that we had never seen before through real human voices. That is indeed a treasure and keeps us in touch with valuable life lessons.
We wrapped up with our storytellers sharing blog posts inspired by grandparents. You can read the heartwarming thread here.
