At the time of crisis, it is human being’s natural instinct to run in search of a comfortable place. So, when the pandemic hit, the world bringing in a paradigm shift in our daily lives, left everyone clueless. It seemed like, we woke up one day, and suddenly, everything thing we have known and done all these years changed. Or might we say, were forced to change?
Amidst all the chaos, people were solely dependent on technology and books to answer all their concerns and figure out the new world that they were quite unsure of. Slowly when we started getting used to the “new normal”, some habits which we started during the lockdown stayed with us for good. It is interesting, how an epidemic is needed for us humans to forcefully face the reality and to act in the best interest of the world and ourselves.
Changing for good
There were huge social, political, economic, and lifestyle changes that the world never foresaw. Furthermore, during those tough times, we also got to witness humanity of the mankind at its peak. Work from home started and families spent quality time together playing fun games, experimenting with cooking, and doing fun workouts, which might have not been the case if the pandemic never happened. But most importantly people started speaking about mental health. It almost became like a global movement where people shared their stories and helped each other without expecting anything in return. Come on, when can we get to see such a humbling site? Maybe once in a lifetime?
During our last conversation with the community about the changes that stayed with them inspite of the end of the pandemic. Here are some interesting answers,
Stepping out of the comfort zone
Even though it was a little overwhelming in the beginning, slowly we settled into our new routine. Soon people had all the time in their life, not knowing what to do exactly. On the other hand, there was also this constant fear and anxiety that stuck with us. So, in order to escape the harsher reality people started trying out new things, getting out of their comfort zone, and consuming content in different forms. This is the period when OTT platforms surged significantly. It also affected the kind of content that was being generated. Also, there was a humongous rise in the popularity of non-fiction books as they started to fly off shelves or through online portals.
Hmm… Now, the type of content our tribe has consumed are mostly books, books and books again…
Experimenting with new stuff
While experimenting, we are try to step out of our comfort space to have fun and learn new things. It is an exciting phase. We never know, if it’s going to work out or not but the fact that we are trying counts for something, right? Especially during the lockdown many of us got an opportunity to try some new things which might have been on our bucket list for so long that we almost forget about them. Some people switched career paths, many took the first step towards their dream, some even quit their day jobs to travel full-time while others tried new genres of literature. Wow, it sounds so COOL!
