On a mission to “figure things out”, I stumbled upon Blogchatter

Here’s Kirutika from Blogchatter’s A-Team sharing her experience as a new team member.
Everyone has to start somewhere
It’s not like every day we wake to realize that we are either living our dream or taking steps towards it. For some people, it could be a process that led them to that point in life. For others, it’s like a spark that flipped their life upside down, in a good way. All this could happen when one knows what they are fighting against or at least what they are fighting for. But for me, I think it’s neither. Because I am still in the phase of figuring out things in my life. Yes, the cliched “trying to figure out my life” stage.
My stance against the world I knew
When we were children, we were taught to dream, aim higher, and move forward no matter what but not many taught us to do things that make us happy. And that too, there was a ‘conditions apply’ tag on what our dreams, aspirations, and goals should be. Either do engineering or become a doctor or even better, write government exams and get a stable 9 to 5 job. It’s the same expectations many parents had for their children. My family is no different. But I am, if I dare say.
So, at last, neither of these options worked out for me. Being the person that I am, I had lots of interests in various fields but none of them were acceptable or considered worthy.
What do you think I did? I came up with backup plans after backup plans. As things didn’t turn out how I wished they would, I felt lost and clueless. That’s when I realized having a lot of interests will also make you even more confused than ever.
So, I decided to start something fresh with a blank slate, something that sparks my curiosity and something that I wanted to try at least once in my life.
And fortunately, I stumbled upon Blogchatter.
What eventually transpired
Even though I was skeptical at first, I made up my mind to try new things as I thought that is the only thing that is under my control, to slowly find a way to do what makes me happy. I got my job as an Intern at Blogchatter. This is my first time attempting to be a content writer. At that time, I never knew what was in store for me. I used to write articles daily. Initially, I was not that good or confident but slowly I started enjoying the work. Back then, I only met two people from team Blogchatter. I had no idea what the others were doing or how big the team was.
After my internship, I made the best decision to continue my work here at Blogchatter. And man, isn’t it fun! Once I met the team, I really loved their vibe. Everyone was passionate and very driven towards the work they do. That’s when it hit me that yes if we love what we do, it won’t feel like work. Of course, there are ups and downs, but it’s worth it. And that is what matters.
Getting one step closer, every day- the inside scenes of Blogchatter
When I was introduced to the community, I wondered what can be done online? How will people build bonds and expand creativity?
I came to know about the different initiatives and challenges they come up with at Blogchatter. They are very interesting, to say the least.
I have always been on the receiving end of many challenges and activities but never the one to manage them. So, when I got to work on the back end of such great initiatives, I became more excited. I looked forward to what new things they will come up with next time.
More than the initiatives and activities themselves, the story behind each of them and how the team comes up with such ideas are so fun. You never know which team call and which random conversation will lead to the team coming up with new ideas. We use every conversation we have to build upon something wonderful.
Meeting the right people at the right time
Keeping the fun part aside for a minute, I think there is an “X” factor in all the activities that happen at Blogchatter.
It is nothing but the people. The community and the team members.
Everyone is unique, some funny, some quirky, yet all are a blend of beautiful shades that sets them apart. It was the first time I made friends online. And of course, it’s nothing as I expected but much better in every way possible.
Even though these people are not my age or don’t share my interests, there is something in them that motivates me to do better and be a better person. And more importantly, I feel happy. I love the space that I am in right now. This makes me realize how unpredictable life is. Nothing prepares you for the next step.
This is me, being in my happy space, still trying to figure (not stressed) out my life and make the most out of it. Maybe this is meant to be (me, definitely not quoting my friends). This makes me happy, and, in the end, that is all that matters.
I now understand that it is okay to get lost in life sometimes, and that’s when you find some beautiful places, like I happened to find Blogchatter and a wonderful community!
