Influencer marketing is becoming increasingly popular these days. A few years back also, I had never come across a single influencer who was into influencer marketing. Influencer marketing involves brands collaborating with online influencers to market products or services.
What is influencer marketing?
It creates more exposure for the brands in the market and lets people buy from them depending on the experiences of the influencers. Also, influencers are benefitted through either barter, payment or both.
Brands get in touch with influencers from specific niches with their requirements. Influencers use their creativity and their audience to talk about the brand’s products/services. It goes without saying that someone in their audience would have requirement of such a product and weighing the pros and cons, they get to make a choice whether to invest in it. The audiences an influencer grows over time trust the credibility of the influencer, making this process easier.
Brands and influencers work together for the best results
This human connect with the influencers and being able to see the results using the product helps brands naturally build their customer base and many brands have experienced a hike in mass product sales.
Both influencers and brands are each other’s benefactors in this initiative. Influencers who are truly devoted to marketing and count on this as their profession get to add many feathers to their cap with each campaign they are involved in and can eventually become prominent figures in the influencer industry.
The brand is positively affected too. An example is when Dunkin’ Donuts for National Donut Day had used a fun way to create awareness on the brand through a Snapchat campaign. The message was simple. Anyone who purchased a beverage would get a free donut. The goal was to reach 2-3 million people. The entertainment studio Collab selected lifestyle influencers who spoke about the offer and talked about how they celebrate National Donut Day in their respective cities.
With the help of custom-made Snapchat filters, playing the creativity of the influencers and their niche to the fullest, the goals of the campaign were met.
Finally, the brand gained ten times more followers on their Snapchat channel in a month!
My journey as an influencer
Similarly, I started with brand collaborations when I even didn’t have a large following. Growth happens steadily. I stayed at it and now brands approach me for collaborations.
Some tips to grow as an Instagram influencer:
- Keep creating meaningful content.
- Stay active and aware.
- Don’t hesitate to approach brands and let them know your wish to work with them.
- Make note of insights, go back to your drawing board and think of innovative ways to build your platform.
- Keep honing your skill set through collaborations and interactions with brands and other influencers.
- Don’t forget to cross-check before you decide to work with someone. Credibility is very important.
- Above all, engage with your audiences. Nothing works as much as that bond you build with them.
We should remember that growth takes time. It can take more than 6 years, but consistence should be one’s ground rule and we must focus on a particular niche for best results. Influencers have the ability to make a brand known to a wide circle of people. When brands and influencers work together towards a common goal that benefits both, influencer marketing can become a very creative way to spread awareness, be it towards a product, service, or a message that the world needs to hear.
