The internet is much evolved today and social media platforms give a tremendous reach when used correctly. Marketing is easier and low-cost but if you are staring a venture and want visibility, blogging can form a strong base for that.
In fact, if you are already blogging and want to turn it into a successful, money-making venture, that’s possible too.
A personal blog is a low-cost, low-risk way to start earning money. So how exactly do you turn into a business that generates revenue?
1. Have a Niche
If you write in a niche which is well-searched, has new trends that people are crazy about, that’s great. If the niche is something you as a blog owner is crazy about, it’s the starting place for good content that reflects your passion and expertise.
Your niche could be offbeat too, but if you’re content is useful to your target audience they would come in droves.
2. Plan your content and stay consistent
Once your niche is set, you need to plan your content. You can’t be writing about what catches your fancy at the moment. It’s true, certain things might be trending and its best to create content around them but for all intents and purposes, have a calendar ready with topics and dates penciled in. Search for keywords and write your posts around them. Above everything else, stay true to your calendar and stay consistent so that your audience comes to accept that you would be posting at a certain frequency.
3. Get Ads
Once you have regular footfall/traffic to your website, its time to scale up operations to make money. Running ads is one way to earn. Once you set it up, you can earn passive income when people click on the ads.
There are networks that you can be part of In Blog Ads network, you can pick categories that pertain to certain cities, as well as subjects such as parenting and fashion. Google’s AdSense is also a must-have. Here, Google’s algorithm serves up ads appropriate to your audience based on the content it scans on your site.
4. Affiliate Advertising
Through affiliate marketing, you would be promoting other people’s products so there’s no stocking up or warehousing charges. If you promote the affiliate products proactively, you could have many people buy through your website and you can earn a small commission from the sale. Promoting these products may involve writing posts, creating videos or putting up a review.
5. Sell Your Stuff
Your stuff or product may include books, membership websites, courses, software, clothes, accessories etc. Make sure that the product you offer is related to your blog’s topic. If you are not sure, take a look at similar blogs within your niche and see what they are selling. You could also be a coach, a mentor, or charge for consultation.
In addition, you could be partnering with brands who pay you to write reviews, or share your experience of a product of theirs.
If you put in the work, you can definitely earn from your personal blog and make it your business.
