Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, was a born leader. He was president from 1861 to 1865 during the American Civil War. He held a nation at a crucial time when it was falling apart at the seams. He had the ability to command a room, negotiate and convince. This made him one of the best presidents of American history. Let’s see how did Abraham Lincoln bring a spectacular change to the world.
President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg address is one of the most famous speeches ever given. Lincoln delivered the address on November 19, 1863. He was in Gettysburg to dedicate a national military cemetery to the Union soldiers who fell at the Battle of Gettysburg four months earlier. The North’s victory here was one of the pivotal battles of the American Civil War.

The main agenda of the speech was to spread the message of equality across the globe. He stressed that those who are born on this earth are equal in all forms and sections of society. Further adding that we should not let the lives of the dead go without any purpose. They fought a battle of which the goal was still not achieved. He further continued that it is not the duty of their generation but of all the coming generations.
The Union won the Civil War. Slavery ended. And with it, the values of liberty and equality were given a “new birth.” However, the struggle for liberty and equality continued…and persists even today. Lincoln foresaw this.
