Mental health is an issue that we as a society must address. It is because physical wounds are visible but the wounds of the mind are abstract. Amongst mental health issues, depression is seen in 264 million people all over the world. This is one of the major reasons for the increasing suicide rate. Over 800,000 people die due to suicide every year and the unprecedented lockdown due to the pandemic has increased the numbers of people suffering from mental health issues.
Here are a few signs that you or someone you know may need help.
Prolonged Feeling of Sadness
If you feel being sad and upset for a longer period or if any person around you seems upset for a longer period, you or the person might be slipping into depression. This feeling might remain with the person in the long term.
Lack of Interest in Almost Everything
If you don’t feel like doing any fun activities or a person around you does not get involved in anything, it might be worth discussing . Depression drives out the energy to do any pleasurable activities.

Sudden Change in Appetite

Guilty and Suicidal Thoughts
In some cases, a disturbance in thought patterns brings guilt and suicidal thoughts. Take serious notice if anybody you know talks about death or shows no interest in living.
Fatigue
If you or any person around you feels tired all day and does not feel like doing usual activities, it is a cause of concern. Your mind makes you weak and tired because of all the anxious thoughts.
