Okay, so it’s no big secret that poor Monday is the most dreaded day of the week for as long as we can remember. The reasons most of us hate them are:
- We keep worrying that the mini vacation has ended.
- We hate our jobs/classes.
- We don’t have a proper routine.
And this hate passes on to the rest of the week- Terrible Tuesdays, and then we’re a bit neutral towards Wednesdays, Thursdays begin to look up and Fridays are exciting because we know weekend is near- but there’s always that foreboding feeling that weekend will be over as soon as it got here! So basically, we kinda end up living the week in stress. It needn’t be that way. While a kickass Monday routine and mindfulness practice can certainly get you started, let’s also dive into some tips so you can beat the blues and keep them far:
Pay attention to how you feel and what you’re thinking
Okay, we can’t really catch all your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes they just get all over the place! What we can do is focus on just the ones that pop up in our head. They usually predict the worst and incorporate a “can’t do” or “shouldn’t do” message. See them for what they are: unfounded and irrational. They’re a result of ages of conditioning we’ve had. Think about what they’re based on? Nothing real. They’re just fears that we’ve built upon. Once we question this and realize it, they disappear.
Let go of Monday negative feelings

It’s Monday. Everything is bound to suck.
We can choose to give in to these doubts or replace each of them with an alternative, much better thought. Let’s try,
I’ve given my best at this presentation. Am sure the team will like it.
I’ll start the day tackling each item on my to-do list. I’ll take breaks in between to refresh my mind. It’s going to be a productive day.
It’s Monday. A new day with new opportunities. Amazing!
This way, we control our thoughts instead of the other way round.
Feed that positive thought
With these above two tips we begin to invite more positive thoughts into our life. Our next step would be to savour that joyous moment and build on that. If we actually follow these three tips, our Mondays and life can change for the better.
