Meeting other storytellers in a book cafe on a warm Saturday afternoon is a dream come true for writers. Yes, we are talking about the Writer’s event in Delhi, where the Blogchatter community met the team, learned important elements for crafting a story, narrated their impromptu stories, and took photos while enjoying tea.
Why a Writers’ Event?
You may ask when writers are busy weaving their stories online then why a Writer’s Event? The answer is simple, we all are storytellers. Unless we meet in person and observe the reality, how will the emotions come alive? It is always an unplanned activity. When writers meet, they greet each other, enjoy a cup of chai and talk about various things but work. Still, stories build on their own and that’s how we call Blogchatter a community of storytellers.
Oxford Bookstore – The perfect backdrop for our meet
Oxford Bookstore in Connaught Place Delhi served as the perfect place to browse through the books, chit-chat with fellow writers, check out the delicious menu and click photos with colourful books in the backdrop. This book cafe is centrally located and is approachable through different metro stations. Situated on the first floor, the entrance to the cafe invites you with carefully chosen coffee table books and fascinating selfie corners.

The event started with everyone expressing their joy at meeting in person, some of whom were meeting for the first time. Sona was excited to travel from Chandigarh to meet the community, and Geethica was busy putting people at ease while taking snapshots from every angle. The common question among the people was who was coming from the team and whether they would meet Richa.
Richa was marked absent from the Writers’ Event.
Writing Masterclass – Things to remember before you tell a story
The team covered pointers on what makes for effective storytelling. Quickly, all the elements were explained as follows and the stage was set for a storytelling session

The spotlight was the activity and community’s presentation
The community were divided into groups of 3 and everyone had to talk to each other, note down various elements that would add to story building and finally come on stage to narrate their creations. In 20 minutes, they were ready to speak and we enjoyed their presentations. Every story had a unique blend of plot setting, characterisation and a purpose for story building.
It was a great time listening to everyone and guessing who contributed which portion of the story. And before we invited all for tea and snacks, it was the time to open the magical pot and see what message does universe has for each one of them.
The message to the writer from the Universe: The Magical Pot
People had to pick a card from the Magical Pot without seeing. Each and every card was beautifully hand-painted by Leha and carried a writer’s message from the universe. Most of them were amused how come the message was exactly what they were looking for?
When the community meets then such magical moments are expected to happen.
Wrap-up
Then came the time to wrap up and everyone promised to meet again. Reading aloud their universal message, people got their motivation to write and write more.
