Don’t you ever get the feeling that all your life is going by and you’re not taking advantage of it? Do you realize you’ve lived nearly half the time you have to live already?
Ernest Hemingway
The hard and real truth
We’ve all at some point experienced a feeling of something being amiss in life, that thrill factor perhaps or the feeling of not living our life to the fullest.
This is because most of us live life as it comes by.
Our routine is fixed, our lifestyle becomes set, and we follow the crowd and the duties without getting deeper into the purpose of life.
As a result, the spark to live life starts fading.
A ladder is climbed by taking small steps to reach the top. Similarly, to reach the step of spicing up our lives, many small steps are climbed.
One such step-in awakening is the step of realization.
The biggest achievement is realization and taking action after realization.
Ways to spice up our life and the action steps taken for it
1) Break the chain of a fixed style –
Doing things differently sparks the fun by breaking free from monotonous style and making us active to learn and embrace change in life.
Action step-
Try something new and different. Start the process with baby steps like breaking the pattern of drinking tea/ coffee the first thing in the morning by replacing it with lemonade.
2) Move out of the comfort zone –
Habits are difficult to break. Commencing our habits to put on hold brings a little resistance at once. However, once tried the change brings excitement, happiness, thrilling experience. In fact, we start believing that new venture and new things progress to a fresh mood and enlightens the spark within us.
Action step-
Take efforts to stop the hesitation. Replace it with the phrase, ‘Let’s give it a try.’
3) Explore your Potential-
Each of us has the potential, experience, and talent to be an outperformer. However, most of the time we do not utilize them to the maximum. This is because we do not expose ourselves to meeting new people, learning new skills, or following our interests and passion. This restricts the spark to be alive.
Action step-
Accepting learnings in any form where we can be a contributor, supporter, volunteer, or helping hand to someone else will, in turn, widen our potentials and reignite the spark within us.
4) Re – Charge yourself with sources of your interest-
All of us enjoy and feel the most pleasurable doing things we love to do. Yet, due to busy schedules and duties, we side-line our hobbies, interests, music, laughter, and nature. We assume we shall do it at a later date. For some time, this can be manageable but in the longer run, we do not enjoy life.
Action step-
We need to prioritize ourselves and take the charge of our routine by allocating few hours in a day for self-time. This increases the dopamine levels and spice up our lives.
It is said that variety is the spice of life. To lighten up the forgotten and misplaced smiles, timely and continuous efforts need to be taken to make the above techniques a part of our lifestyle.
