Have you wondered what the most gorgeous and expensive pieces of ornaments around the world are?
Throughout history, jewels have been passed through the hands of royalty and socialites alike, sometimes even gifted from one to the next. Their monetary value reaches such exorbitant heights because of the demand of these jewels among the rich, royal, and famous. Not just that, they become treasured pieces because jewelry is an age-old tradition of self-embellishment. Some of them are timeless classics and their worth is celebrated over the years.
The following pieces of ornaments are some of the most beautiful and expensive around the world!
The Hope Diamond
The most expensive and perhaps the most famous jewel in the world is a 45.52 carat blue stone known as the Hope Diamond. Experts think its unusual blue coloring comes from impurities caused by trace amounts of boron atoms.
It is thought to have come from the Golkonda mines in Southern India. In 1666, it was bought by a French gem merchant and was cut and renamed the French Blue, under which name it was sold in 1668 by Tavernier to King Louis XIV.
It is said to have bad luck but quite on the contrary its bad luck and curses have made it the most sought after jewel.
Blue Moon of Josephine
This 12.03 carat diamond was bought in 2014 by the convicted-felon fugitive Hong Kong billionaire Joseph Lau Luen-hung. He bought it for his seven-year-old daughter Josephine, after whom he named the stone.

It cost him $48.4 million, the most per carat a diamond of any colour has ever sold for. Look at the rare crystal blue colour!
Hutton Mdivani Cartier Necklace
This jadeite bead, ruby and diamond necklace was owned by Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton gifted to her by her father on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Mdivani of Georgia. It is the world’s most important piece of jadeite jewelry comprised of 27 Qing jadeite beads and a geometrically designed clasp of rubies and diamonds.
The Tiffany Yellow Diamond
It is one of the largest yellow diamonds ever discovered. This magnificent canary yellow gemstone is believed to have been discovered in South Africa in 1877. It is listed in jewelry and diamond historian Herbert Tillander’s book “Diamond Cuts in Historic Jewelry – 1381 to 1910”, alongside famous gems like the Kohinoor Diamond, Polar Star, and more. The piece was apparently only ever worn by 2 women, one of who was Audrey Hepburn, for her Breakfast at Tiffany’s press photographs.
Precious stones such as diamonds, rubies, emeralds, jade are a symbol of undying wealth and luxury but they also hold stories woven around love, war, deception, beauty and art, shaping them into important parts of our heritage.
