Commonwealth Games is an international multi-sport event for the members of Commonwealth nations. 72 nations participated in CWG 2022 held in Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August 2022.
All the players portrayed an excellent performance and Indian athletics won a total of 61 medals in all. The Indian champions not only made us proud by ranking India in the 4th position but also depicted great learnings to achieve success by winning against all odds.
Profound strategies executed by our CWG Winners that are inspirational learnings leading to success
Love what you do and chase your passion
Rupal Chaudhary won 2 medals for India, always dreamt to be a runner and had that fire in her that led her to take formal training to excel in the field of her liking.
When we do what we love we are self-motivated and we achieve success too.
Patience and trust in self
Murali Sreeshankar won silver medal in the commonwealth games and expressed about trusting ourselves in the whole process while having patience in the game.
Everything has a right time to come in our lives, but until then we need to be composed and keep on working on it till we achieve it.
Upgrade and rework your skills sets
Sushil Kumar won a gold medal for the country and followed upgrading and reworking his skill sets to excel in the event.
At times, we give up too easily thinking that the lapse of time has left us far behind others but if we upgrade and re-learn the area of our expertise, we can still light up the flame in us.
No shortcut to hard work and perseverance
Jeremy Lalrinnunga and many other athletes suffered injuries while Practicing but disregarding the pain, they came back in the matches which once again put them in the lead. Hard work cannot be substituted with shortcuts in the field of life too.
Failures and setbacks are a part of the game of life
Satish Kumar mentioned that setbacks and failures are a part of the game. It’s best to stay focused and continue to reach the goal. Also the strategy of accepting setbacks and yet moving pays in the long run.
Be the best version of yourself and compete with self
Gururaja poojary, the Indian weightlifter became his best version by breaking his previous best by 3 Kgs to get another medal for India in the event.
Becoming the best version of ourselves helps to harness the judgement, criticism and fear of self.
You are your own support system
Sanket Mahadev Sarkar and Achinta Sheuli had no godfather and no contacts in their journey. Despite the financial crisis they won their battles and won medals as the biggest support system is always self.
When the mind and heart believe in self impossible things turn into possible.
Don’t quit, change your strategies
Bindyarani Devi was a taekwondo player earlier but due to her short height she couldn’t pursue it further.
She decided not to quit her quest for winning but instead opt for weightlifting and made her debut in the commonwealth games. Quitting isn’t the solution but finding alternatives surely is.
Withstanding and being Resilient during difficulties is the key to success
Mirabai Chanu lost at the Rio Olympics in 2016 in all three attempts on her clean and jerk lifts. But that did not shake her up to pursue her dreams. Holding on to our dreams and quickly recovering from the challenges is what makes us tough and strong to emerge high.
Look for the light at the end of the tunnel
Mairaj Ahmed Khan won gold for the country and almost gave up shooting after he lost his father to the pandemic. He couldn’t believe his name on the winning list but there is always a light at the end of our last hope. Once, we focus on seeing that we reach our goal.
Offer your best to the world and the world in turn gives us the best!
