Love wins in Thailand and it’s a landmark moment for equality
Love is officially winning, and we couldn’t be happier to hear this incredible news. Thailand has just made history by becoming the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. This isn’t just a win for Thailand, it’s a beacon of hope for LGBTQ+ communities across the region and beyond.
Why This Is So Huge

“This is what we’ve been waiting for—a step closer to true equality. Thailand is finally recognizing the love that’s always been here.”
Indian LGBTQ+ activist and author Parmesh Shahani also supported saying,
“Thailand’s step is a win for all of us in Asia. We’re watching and cheering!”
Global LGBTQ+ creator Eugene Lee Yang from The Try Guys added his voice, tweeting,
“Every time we see love being legally recognized, it reminds us that we are moving forward, even if slowly. Proud of Thailand for leading the way in Southeast Asia!”
What Comes Next?
While this is a huge win, the work isn’t over. Activists in Thailand are already pushing for laws to address adoption rights and full gender identity recognition. For many couples, getting married is just the first step in building a life together, and that life deserves full legal protection, too.
