Talking to someone, no matter where they are, is now as simple as a click away. Since the majority of communication in today’s digital world is done via social media, we no longer understand the fundamentals of simple conversation.
Users of social media platforms can converse, share information, and produce content. It has increased public understanding of what is going on in other parts of the world. People can maintain social connections and support networks that would be impossible to maintain otherwise, and they have greater access to information than ever before.
Online communities and social interactions among people can be beneficial in terms of boosting and developing their self confidence and social skills.
How to build healthier connections
Even though social media has become such a big part of our lives, we sometimes don’t realise how much time we spend scrolling through our feed. Many of us check our phones last thing before going to bed and the first thing when we wake up. Choosing the right balance and working to develop a healthier lifestyle for using social media is critical for it to continue to have a positive influence in our life.
Here are a few examples of how our community is using social media to foster healthier connections.
“Must reach out to more people online. Offline connecting has its charm, not easy when we are a global group but try for those who can. And try more online connections by day and week. Last week I had a beautiful chat with Manali, and I felt so happy,” says Prasanna Raghavan.
The benefits of social media cleanse
A social media detox allows you to disconnect from online platforms for a set period of time if scrolling has taken over your emotions and life. To detox from their social media habits, some people disconnect for a day, while others disconnect for a week. A social media detox may appear to be a big hassle, but chances are you’ll feel better afterward. Let’s take a look at the views our members have about detoxifying their social media use.
“ Yes, its absolutely rejuvenating! Social media is like a marshy swamp that keeps pulling you in…it is when we take a break do we realize how much time is lost,” says Isha.
Social media, social skills, and overall well-being
When we are preoccupied with impressing our followers rather than having meaningful experiences, in an increasingly interconnected world, we feel more isolated than ever. If you don’t have good social skills on social media, life can be lonely, which can lead to issues with mental health as well. Social networking sites contribute to the erosion of our personalities. Our community believes in the isolation created by the world of social media and strives for overall well being.
“Cos we think no one can catch us or know the real us. The anonymity makes us lose our hold on politeness,” says Harshita.
Using social media as a portal to the world
Social media has altered our perception of the world around us. It has changed not only the way we communicate, but also the way we do business, live in society, and are controlled. People appear to be unable to live without social media, which has had such an impact on society. However, in addition to these disadvantages, social media has had a significant positive impact on our lives.
The promise of connectivity, where we can build networks, receive updates, and develop a strong sense of community, is the central underlying concept of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and other platforms. There are undoubtedly negative consequences to using social media frequently, however, significant research has found that social media can help you develop your interests, learn new things, and be entertained. It’s very important to not ignore rudimentary social skills. Follow and share inspiring stories that make you feel good about yourself and your life.
